Be Spiritual

I will like to talk about the spiritual man.

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." (Heb.11: 3). The last part of this verse is what I will like to use as my thesis: Things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. In short, it means the physical things we can see in the world were made by the invisible world. The invisible world created the visible world. In this generation where many people are despising spiritual things, it is necessary to emphasize this point. My messages in most of my sermons, as the Lord has led me, are to lead believers gradually into spiritual power with God, for those who will follow on to know the Lord.

"Things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

In 1st Corinthians chapter 2 verse 14, we read again: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man."

Many things, which the scientific world may explain one way, the spiritual man will see differently. For example, sicknesses, depression, emotional unrest, psychiatric cases may be explained by the scientific world as caused by some nerves, or muscle problems in the body. They put it in the physical. But what does the spiritual man see? The spiritual man may see some spirit-beings tampering with the body, which causes the sicknesses. The spiritual man judgeth all things.

In the story of king Hezekiah, Isaiah the prophet told Hezekiah to set his house in order for he would die of the disease. After Hezekiah refused to accept the verdict and cried unto God, God reversed the situation and told Isaiah to prophesy unto Hezekiah that he would not die, and God would add 15 years to Hezekiah’s life. (2 Kgs.20: 6-8). Now in verse 7,

"And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered." The boil was what was killing the king. Now after God prophesied that Hezekiah would live, Isaiah told the servants to put a lump of figs on the boil. Why am I pointing to this story? It is to show you that "things which are seen were not made of things which do appear!" You may ask: what has the lump of figs got to do with healing the boil in Hezekiah? The medical doctors may attempt to explain it: maybe the lump of figs shed some juice, which interacted with the skin of Hezekiah, etc, etc. Well if you think that was what happened, if Isaiah the prophet knew about the lump of figs healing boil, don’t you think he would have recommended it long before that time? It was not the lump of figs that did the job. It was the Spirit. The spiritual man can see the spirit world at work, but the carnal man will explain these things off. The medical doctors may think it was the fig tree. But it was the finger of God at work. When God is at work, he can use anything. He could have used ordinary water just as well. Yea, things, which are seen, were not made of things which do appear!

Don’t trust in the scientific report. Why don’t you begin to trust in the report given by the word of God. Isaiah wrote: "Who has believed our report?" Begin to see beyond the physical into the spiritual realm. This is why I am repeating over and over again that "things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

For another example, think about locusts, hurricanes, and tornadoes, which destroy lands, and cities. What does the scientist see as the cause of these things. The scientist may see clouds, and winds. The scientist may explain that the clouds and the winds are reacting one way, and the movement of the tides is turning the wind into a storm or hurricane

by all those physical interactions, etc. But what will the spiritual man see? The spiritual man will see principalities of the spirit-world at work in hurricane, in tornadoes. Go read 2Sam.22: 11, where it was recorded that God "rode upon a cherub, and did fly", yet He was "seen upon the wings of the wind". In fact, when a spirit-being passes by and moved closer to the physical realm, you may sense the moving of the wind. Some principality spirits moved about in whirlwinds. Until you perceive this, you may think everything is physical like the scientists will explain the cause of whirlwind. The spiritual man judgeth all things, but he himself is judged of no man! And if you want to walk with the Lord, you must begin to see beyond the physical. You must begin to see the principalities at work.

Let’s observe the locusts, which came into Egypt by the hand of Moses in the book of Exodus (Ex.10). God said he sent locusts into the land of Egypt. Perhaps the Egyptians in those days might explain it off that it was just the wind, which blew the locusts into their land. But God said he sent the locusts. In exodus 10:13, "And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts." Now look at that! The scientist may say it was only the wind. They are half-correct. God used the wind to do the job. Lo, principalities are in the wind. Somebody is controlling these things. That is what I am trying to make you to see. "Things which are seen were not made of things which do appear". If you are a Christian, you will know how to take authority over elements when you have to, realizing these things. God put man upon this earth to control this planet and all the elements when you are joined with God.

You can see similar example when the Red sea was divided before Moses. God sent a mighty east wind to blow the waters apart. The scientist may think it was the turbulent wind, but God said he sent the wind. Yea, things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Keep that in your heart! Walk with the Lord with that same mind, and you will begin to be spiritual.

When Isaiah told Hezekiah: put a lump of figs upon the boil, the unbeliever may argue that what has a lump of figs got to do with the boil. Well, there are people who know the secrets about faith. "Who has believed our report?" It didn’t have to be figs, it could be anything. "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it!" This statement was made by Mary, the mother of Jesus. (Jn.2: 5) Mary must have seen the Lord Jesus perform some miracles in the house, whereby he taught her "do whatever I say and you will see miraculous result". When they had no more wine at the marriage in Cana of Galilee, "the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come.

In verse 5, the bible recorded: His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it."

That is the secret. You may think what has this got to do with it? just do it. When Isaiah said "take a lump of figs and put it on the boil." Just do it! Things, which you cannot see is working in the background to make these things happen. The bible said, things, which are seen, were not made of things which do appear.

Begin to be spiritual! See beyond the physical into the spirit world, which is causing the effect that you are observing in the physical world. The spiritual world made the physical world.

In Lk 8:25 we see when the Lord Jesus was on the sea, and there came a storm. The Lord rose up and said "peace, be still." He was looking beyond the winds and the storm. He was addressing the spirit behind the storm, and they obeyed him. The apostles were baffled and they said, "what manner of a man is this! For he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him?"

God has given this right to Adam to control the earth. We are spirit beings living in the physical body. Will you not therefore begin to see beyond the physical into the spirit-world and see the causes of the effects you observe in the physical? When you perceive this, realize that in Christ Jesus, we have a God-given right to speak to the causes of those effects so as to control the earth as God has apportioned unto man. But you must resist the scientific explanations.

In 1Tim.6: 20-22, Apostle Paul warned Timothy to avoid opposition of Science. It boils down to one question: Whose report will you believe?

Are you going to believe the report of the scientist or the medical world concerning situations or are you going to believe the word of the living God? Whose report will you believe?

"O, Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and opposition of science falsely so called: which some professing have erred concerning the faith."

Many things which we know are caused by God, the scientist may explain off to make men believe there is no God. However, things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

As believers, we ought to look beyond the physical and see the spirit world at work, so that we can effectively control the earth. When God created man he said "let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Gen.1:26). Adam lost the dominion, but Christ has brought it back to us, "for as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (Jn. 1:12). When he filled us with the Holy Ghost, he gave us the power to become the sons of God. We must work with the Holy Ghost and begin to do exploits as it is written, "they that know their God shall do exploits." (Dan.11:32).

Avoid the opposition of science falsely so called. Those men of science who propagate that man came through evolution are actually instruments of satan to deceive the world, so that men may not fear God. But whose report will you believe?

May the Lord open your eyes to begin to be spiritual, and know that "things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

Amen.
