Where is your Faith?

My sermons have always been about the rapture. I will like to go through a series of faith building messages on faith applications to lead into rapturing or translative faith.

At the end of the series, I will zero in on the faith for translation.

From Lk.8:22-25 I read: "Now it came to pass on a certain day that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm."

Now verse 25 is what I want you to take note of.

"And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying to another, what manner of man is this! For he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him."

The Lord asked the disciples "where is your faith?" This is what I want to talk about in this sermon. The disciples have already been sent out to heal the sick and preach the kingdom of God. They had returned testifying that the devils were subject unto them in the name of the Lord Jesus. But they came to this situation on the lake and they forgot about faith and prayer. This is why the Lord asked the question "Where is your faith?"

I want to talk on the fact that to many Christians, even though they have faith, but they only apply the faith in some aspects of their life and not in others. That is the problem. It calls for this question of the Lord to the disciples while they were confronted by the raging wind on the lake and they didn’t remember faith. If someone had been sick among them they would have remembered to pray and use faith. But they were confronted by a storm, and because many of these disciples were professional fishermen, they were used to this storm on the lake. So they resorted to what they were used to do, wrestling with the wind. It reminded me of what the Lord told me some time ago in my engineering career, to put on the whole armor of God always, even when I was working on an engineering project. We may not know when the natural has turned supernatural by the intervention of the devils. The disciples did not know when the natural wind on the lake turned deadly, and therefore what they were used to do would fail at that instant.

When believers are used to a physical method of doing certain things, they will often forget about faith. Suppose your child is sick, what do you remember to do? Do you remember "first to take the child to the doctor", or do you remember to pray for the child and exercise faith? This is what I will talk about in this series of sermons: Which spheres of life do we exercise our faith, or why not exercise faith in all spheres of life!

It is faith in Christ that gives us salvation from sin. It is an application of our faith in the word preached to us about Christ that gives us salvation. The bible said, ‘with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation’. (Rom.10: 10).

Almost every believer believes in the salvation of their souls by their faith in the words of the Lord Jesus. That is good. However the same faith can be applied in all spheres of life. In every sphere of life we ought to be exercising our faith. For instance, for the healing of our body, we ought to exercise our faith in any word of God that promises us healing; for rebuking devils we ought to be able to exercise faith; for controlling natural events such as wind, huricanes, or the weather, we ought to be able to exercise faith; for material provision we ought to be able to exercise faith. I will go through each sphere of life listed here, one by one, to examine the bible verses that give us the right or the promise whereby we can exercise our faith. We shall be able to do exploits by our faith in God’s word to the glory of the Lord.

Building upon the foundation of faith for Salvation, then we can have faith for healing, material provision, casting out devils, controlling elements (wind, storms, rain, hurricanes, etc.), for changing political situations or social minds of the public, for supernatural protection, and finally for translative power. I will go through each aspect of application of our faith which I list here with testimonies and scriptures to make the believer know that God has called us unto a great heritage, and that we ought to exercise this faith in all spheres of our life on earth.

When I speak of supernatural protection, you can see the world situations in the streets where there is road-rage, drive-by shooting, terrorists attacks, and so on. The faith of the saint of God is able to provide supernatural protection for the child of God. Because we worship a supernatural God, we ought to be able by our faith to have supernatural protection against all those evils. But faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. This is why I will go through this series of faith-building sermons.

I will begin with faith for salvation, then faith for the healing of the body and casting out devils, faith for material provision, faith for controlling earthly elements, unto the faith for changing the political situations and the social minds of the people, then unto the faith for supernatural protection. By the time we get to supernatural protection, we are now talking of spiritual power with God. As the Lord said, "no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper" (Isa.54: 17). Faith in these words of the Lord has power, but you have got to build up your faith. And all this power is in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no other spirit anywhere that can give you salvation: "neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12). Christ is the head of all principalities and powers. When you are in Christ, you have access to the power by your faith. The climax of this faith is what I call "translative faith".

Stay tuned !!! And may God bless you.
