UFO

(From a testimony of Bro. Julius Adewumi, 10/27/95)

I will like to relate an experience which happened to me a long time ago. I was between 8 to 10 year old when this occurred. It was in my hometown of Ijebu Igbo, in Southwestern Nigeria. It was very dark in that night about 9.00 PM. My big brother and I were told by our Mom to go to the front of the house, with the kerosene lamp, and gather the hen and her chicks into their cage. In the towns, people raise hens, roosters and other livestock. My Mom had many of those, including goats. That was a town where the livestock is allowed to roam freely in the neighborhood. You can regularly see newly hatched chicks following their mother to feed in the backyards. At the end of the day the chicks would return to the side of the house and we will have to gather them into their cages, which was a safer place to avoid dogs and other predators.

On this faithful night I was carrying the little kerosene lamp, and my brother was picking the chicks and placing them in the cage. As I was standing at one corner of the house with the lamp, there was a brighter light coming on the other side of the house. The brightness was like that of a gas-lamp or flourescent lamp. There was a path where people could walk beside our house through which anybody could go to the backyard of the house behind ours, because there was an empty plot of land on that side. The first thought which came to me was that perhaps some folks were going to a party, because in those days (late '50s and early 60's) when families were going to a night party, they would carry a gas-lamp along. In fact some parties only used as many gas-lamps as people could bring for the open-air parties.

Because the light was coming from the side of the house, I went aside to look at the folks who I thought were going to a party. My big brother, who was by this time disturbed because I carried the kerosene lamp away, yelled at me to bring back the lamp. But when he also saw the bright light coming from the other side of the house, he also was interested to see the party-goers. So he came up behind me.

But to my amazement, what I saw was a flying lamp, at about the top of the houses. It was as big as an eagle or a kite. It was flying at about the speed of a walking man, not fast. I stood at the corner of our house and just stared at the thing, which I thought was a bird, but no one has ever seen such a "bird of light" in history. It was as big as a kite or a hen. It seemed to be coming straight towards me as I stood at the corner of the house, not scared, only wondering what it might be. But when my big brother came up behind me and saw the "thing" in the air, he yelled for help and ran back into the house. Somehow, when the "ball of light" saw the reaction of my brother, it turned back about 270 degrees and flew in a different direction away from our house. When I saw that it changed direction then I also got scared and ran after my brother into the house.

We told our parents what we had seen, but my mom did not believe it at first. She thought we were looking for an excuse to not gather the chicks. She went to the backyard to investigate and saw nothing. However she heard neighbors in the other house describing the same thing which they saw while they were siting in their backyard. My mom came in and agreed that we were correct because the neighbors were saying the same thing. It was reported that the same flying object was sighted in several places in the town that night. The locals usually said it was a fallen star. After I become a scientist, I will not call that a star fragment nor even a meteor. It should be classified as an Unidentified-Flying-Object (UFO). There was intelligent in that flying light in order for it to see us and change direction like a bird would. There was no known bird in the jungle with such a large light.

I have wondered about that experience as I grew up. That kind of sightings is called UFO nowadays. I was reminded of the episode as I was meditating upon the word of God this evening. Look at the type of vehicle called "chariot of fire" which took Elijah the Prophet away. It dawned on me as I think of this that, when the Lord will take his elect away in the rapture, with similar type of chariots of fire, there will have been preliminary familiarization of the elect with such manifestation. I want to point out to us that when Elijah went away in that chariot, it looked as if he was previously familiar with strange events before that day. "And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elishah from Gilgal." (2Kgs.2:1). "And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder: and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2Kgs.2:11).

It said "a whirlwind". A chariot of fire, and horses of fire! That is what it was called. Most likely glowing red-light. What I want to point out is that, just like my testimony about the ball or bird of light above, when these vehicles are coming from the invisible to the visible, they will appear first like a small spot of light which will rapidly enlarge itself as it manifests into a full-blown chariot or vehicle or even if it will be an angel. If you are made to see it as it appears, from the invisible world it will manifest as a point of light coming from a distance which will rapidly within a little span of space grow into a standing vehicle in the visibility.

What I saw then like a small bird of light, if it had come down and fully manifested, it might stand as a full blown chariot, large enough that Elijah could jump inside it. The strange events are already manifesting which the unbelievers are classifying as UFOs. I say they are strange events because even sinners are reporting the sighting of those flying saucers. I was not a christian when I saw the one I reported above. Many preachers have said those reported saucers could be the work of the devil. Nevertheless, God is still in control of whatever comes and goes on this planet. We who are Christians and are expecting the translation, we should begin to be familiar with the true angelic vehicles which God will send to take us out of here.

When God is going to take us away in the rapture, it's going to be perhaps something like that ball of light turn into a chariot, like Elijah's chariot, or perhaps we are simply going to disappear.

Keep your eyes open! The Lord is coming soon!

A song says:

"On eagles wings, One happy day My Lord will take me home on high!

On eagles wings, one happy day My Lord will take me home on high.

Glory glory to Jehovah's lamb, Whose blood was shed to save my soul,

On eagle's wings, one happy day My Lord will take me home on high!"

To go in the rapture, it's got to be you and the Lord walking alone in the narrow road. "Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him" (Gen.5:22). He was the only one that walked closely with the Lord in his days, until the Lord said, let's just get out of here. He took him away. That is how I perceive this night-vigils. We are very few here in the dark hours praying and interceeding for the body of Christ. It is a lonely walk with the Lord. Some other few saints somewhere may be doing the same thing. They are also walking the lonely road with the Lord. Those who are going in the rapture will be used to such all-night prayer-vigils and lone-walks with the almighty God, till the Lord will say to us, let's just get out of here, and we will be gone in the rapture. Amen. Walk the walk, folks!

Remember Elijah told the Lord "I am the only one left here". The Lord said okay, I'll come and get you. The prayer-meeting/night-vigil can be classified as a way of walking with the Lord. In the wee hours, we just stay there and pray and interceed for the body of Christ. We started with many brethren, and we are just a few remaining who had been consistent. A book of remembrance is recorded before the Lord. Suddenly, perhaps when nothing seems to be moving by prayer, and no one else seems to be interested, He will say "let's get out of here; these people are not ready for this". That is what I think happened in the case of Enoch.

Let's pray and ask the Lord to give us that seriousness to walk with him.

Armour of Righteousness:

In Ephesians chapter 6, it said we should put on the full armour of God. I want to talk about the armour called "righteousness" for breastplate.

"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness." (Eph.6:14). What is breastplate of righteousness? As I have said earlier, when we talk about walking with the Lord, it is the "doing" aspect of our journey with him. There is Grace of God which saves us (Helmet of salvation), but there is the working part which is the "doing". "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling". The Lord just impressed upon my heart that even though we are saved by grace, but it is the "doing" aspect of the journey which is the part that took Elijah away, and took Enoch away that he did not see death. Enoch walked with God! That phrase alone, "walked with God", showed the "doing" part of the journey which Enoch performed. That part of it is what made Enoch disappear. It is the "doing" part which makes the difference. What is righteousness? Righteousness implies "doing things right before God". Now do you see the "doing" aspect of our salvation? There is "working" that has to do with righteousness. Yes Christ has saved us by grace -- that is the helmet of salvation. But for our chest we need the breastplate of righteousness -- which has to do with "doing". Our physical efforts. Let's think about this. It is the only thing recorded about Enoch which made him different: He walked with God -- that is a "doing". Our deeds is very essential when it comes to getting things right in the eyes of the Lord. What are the works of righteousness which is demanded from us as christians? Do you know that fasting is one of them? When it comes to work, fasting is working; giving is working; helping is working -- we are putting forth our effort in something. "Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness sake; for they shall be filled." (Mat.5:6). Proverb of Solomon says "Righteousness delivereth from death". (Prov.11:4-6). Yet righteousness, as we have said, is work!

How can righteousness deliver us from death? The Lord reminded me of king Hezekiah. Hezekiah was sick unto death, and Isaiah the prophet came to him and said, "put your house in order for thou shalt die and not live". But Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and cried unto God. He said "remember O Lord how I have walked uprightly before thee". He brought up his righteousness before the Lord in the things he had done for God. The Lord spoke to Isaiah immediately to go back and tell Hezekiah that he would not die and fifteen years were added to him. (2Kgs.20:1-7). Do you see now how righteousness delivered Hezekiah from death?

Now let's correlate righteousness with the fact that we are going away in the rapture. It is our physical effort and our "doing" aspect of the journey that will count when it comes to whether we are going to be granted the grace to go away from here without seeing death. Like Enoch, he walked with God and pleased God. Righteousness is the working aspect of our life after we have been saved by grace which makes God to be even ready to look at our works. Because without the grace of salvation, our righteousness is as filthy rags before the Lord. But after we are saved, the work of faith becomes useful for rewards: bear in mind that Enoch was translated like a reward of his walk with God.

Also Daniel had the works of righteousness. Before he was thrown into the lions' den he was doing the deeds which were the works of righteousness: fasting, praying and living upright before God. It was his works of righteousness that caused him to go into the lions' den and which also delivered him, because his enemies said "we cannot find any occasion against this Daniel except we find it against him concerning the law of his God." (Dan.6:5). His righteousness delivered him from death.

Concerning this fact about Enoch and Elijah going away, and whether we are going to go away in the rapture, it is the "doing" part of our walk with God that matters. It is our righteousness which will begin to deliver us from many deaths and will also carry us with him in the rapture. We are going to pray and ask the Lord for help with our righteousness. I have come to realize that this walk with God is a work that I have to do.

Yes, apostle Paul said, it is not work that saved us: we are saved by grace. Oh yes. But our work of righteousness is for the reward we will get from the Lord. Let's pray that the Lord revive us unto good works.

Just like "truth" is the girdle, and we have to make it an habit to practice to speak the truth of the word of God, for girdle, so is the breastplate of righteousness to be put on by us as we do the works of righteousness.

Those who go in the rapture have basically escaped "death". Yet, it's righteousness that delivereth from death! (Prov.11:4). Do you now understand this sermon? Our deeds are essential to qualify us for the rapture. Walk the walk, folks!

May the Lord guide our hearts unto the good works which we need to do in order to walk uprightly before the Lord, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord give us the grace to put forth an effort in walking with the Lord. Amen.
