The Grace of God brought us thus far!

(From a sermon of Bro. Julius Adewumi - 2/13/98)

I heard about how the eagles train their babies to fly, and I am amazed by one fellow's naration of it. In one of my earlier sermons, I mentioned the fact that the mother eagle would carry the baby eagles on her wings and then drop them from the sky so that the eaglets, out of panic, can flap their wings. (Read Rapturing Faith part 12).

It was reported further that if some baby eagles fail to flap the wings, the mother eagle will swoop down and catch the eaglet before it crash-land.

It was reported further that if after several attempts the baby eaglet fail to fly, the mother will give it a final drop from far up in the sky and abandon the eaglet to crash-land or perish if it may.

The analogy drawn from this story of the non-flying eaglet is this: when eagles fall, they fall hard from a very high place. God is bringing up the saints, especially at this end time, to great heights of faith like the eagle. When we come to that height, we are to exercise our faith so that we can fly and be independent. May the Lord not give up on any of his people like the mother eagle. When the baby eaglets are mature enough to step out on their own, the first thing which the mother eagle does, is to stir the nest, making the nest uncomfortable for the eaglets. Similarly the Lord has been allowing trials and tribulations from attacks by the devil against his elect. He is allowing the devil to bombard the saints with darts and arrows, so that we can really use our authority over the devil.

In all these things, it is still the grace of God, which started us in the Christian race, that will carry us through the confrontation with the devil. It is not that we do something special to make the Lord choose us for this race, neither that we have to do something to get what we need from the Lord. It is His grace that provide us with all the victory.

What is grace? Grace is a free gift. When apostle Paul asked the Lord to remove the thorn from him, the Lord told him "My grace is sufficient for thee!" What is that grace? It means the free gift which he has given! If you use that free gift, you should be able to overcome the trouble. Some people mis-interpreted the word to apostle Paul as if the Lord meant "don't even bother to take this thorn out, just bear it by my grace." No! It really means, the free gift of faith and power which the Lord has given, the word of God which Christ has given to us, is sufficient to overcome the trouble if we use it right.

I have found that to be true in my life. Many times the devil would bombard me with torment, and I would command him, bound him, and he is not bound. I would speak the word of God, quote some scriptures, and it would seem not effective. Somehow, I would begin to search in the spirit what I needed to say for this devil to bow. The Lord has said "I have given you everything you need to beat the devil". They are all here in the bible. That is the grace we are talking about. Whether it is the word, or the fire of God, or the blood of Jesus, or the name of Jesus, whatever we need to speak at the devil to push the enemy back is given to us already in the bible.

In a vision long time ago, when I came to Phoenix, the devil came with two of his gangsters to a hall, the gate of which I was to keep. In the vision, the three of them were just like hooligans or a gang-leader with two gang members following him. I told them "you are told not to come to this hall." Like a stubborn gang-leader, he forced himself inside saying "who said? get out of my way!" He walked around inside the hall and came back out, and I started reporting the man to heaven, as the three hooligans were walking away. The Lord spoke to me from the sky to speak the word. I began to look for the right word of rebuke to say. Perhaps the first word that came to mind was "evil shall slay the wicked". The men began to walk away faster.

I gave this testimony to point to the fact that when the Lord said "my grace is sufficient for you", the word is here in this bible. The word we need to defeat the devil is right here in the bible. That was why the Lord told me to speak the word at the devil in that vision. The word that we should speak to each particular situation is right here in the bible. God has given us the grace to save us first. The same grace that will bring us to the level where we will subdue the earth, is already given to us by God in his word. We have got to subdue that spirit call Satan who is the gang-leader in that vision. We have to get the grace that we need to subdue the devil.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of ourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephe.2:8-9).

The first thing that saved our lives is grace. After we are saved, we must go further than that, also by his grace. The grace is to build us up spiritually. The grace is to quench all what the enemy is throwing at us. The free gift is enough. When we want God to step in supernaturally to deliver us, it means the grace is not sufficient. In this free gift is the word of God, the blood of Jesus, the name of Jesus. All those have been freely given to us. We are to use these weapons efficiently to fight our battles. Then if it is not enough, God will have to step in. I remember one day when a devil attacked me, and the Lord told me "you cannot fight this one; tell me to beat him up for you." I simply said "Jesus, beat him up!" And it was done. So there will be times when we may have to call upon the Lord to intervene. When we have used the grace of God, calling the name of Jesus, quoting bible verses, or commanding the devil to go. If none of those works against our enemy, then we must call on the Lord to step in supernaturally.

"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." (1Pet.1:13).

You may note that I began talking about the flying of the eaglets. We are also called upon at this end time by the Lord to soar very high as saints of God and overcome all things. "He that overcometh shall inherit all things. " As the mother eagle roughen the nest, God also has began to roughen the nest for the end-time saints by allowing a host of satanic spirits to attack his elect.

It's like being passed through a tunnel. The Lord is passing his warriors through a spiritual tunnel, wherein are wild animals and serious danger. The elected saints are to subdue those wild animals by the word, and come out on the other side flying high as overcomers. Yea, saith the Lord, "he that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Rev.21:7).

We are to search for the grace already given to us in the bible with which we shall be able to subdue those satanic spirits by the word of God. That is when we are flapping our wings! Yea, as the word of God said, the saints prevailed! "They overcome him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony.; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Rev.12:11).

May the Lord grant us more grace to recognize the weapons of our warfare, and so get the victory quicker in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
