"He
will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner”
(Mat.3: 12)
(From radio broadcast of Bro. Julius Adewumi)
Rev. 17
“And there came
one of the 7 angels which had the 7 vials, and talked with me, saying unto me,
Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth
upon many waters.”
This chapter 17
mentioned the great whore. The great
whore was referred to in chapter 16:
“And great
Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of
the fierceness of his wrath.”
(Rev.16:19).
We all remember the
city Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar that conquered Jerusalem. But this, here, was several thousand years
after the Babylon of Nebuchadnezzar was gone.
God is talking another spiritual Babylon. In a moment I will point out the spiritual Babylon, another city,
which was in the days of Apostle John.
We will see it also in chapter 18.
Another city is being symbolized as Babylon. The same spirit that was ruling in the days of Nebuchadnezzar is
actually moved around and running the new Babylon.
V.1: “ … come hither and I will show unto
thee the judgment of the great whore…”
The bible talks about
fornication of this Babylon with the kings of the earth. This is talking of spiritual
fornication. What does fornication
mean? Fornication is committing sexual
immorality with someone that one is not married to. In the old testament, when the people of Israel turned away from
the God of Israel and were worshipping some idols, God said they have committed
fornication. Spiritual Fornication
therefore means idolatry.
When God talks about a
city committed fornication, it must be a city purported to be worshipping God.
V.3 “So he carried me away in the spirit
to the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of
names of blasphemy having seven heads and ten horns.”
In chapter 13 we saw
the beast (the same beast) having seven heads and ten horns. We pointed out
that the beast having seven heads and ten horns is symbolizing the European
community. This is because it was the
old Roman empire revived. In this
chapter 17, it said the woman (the whore) was riding upon the beast, which has
seven heads and ten horns. At the end
of the chapter the angel interpreted this vision.
V.4: “And the woman was arrayed in purple
and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having
a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her
fornication.
And upon her
forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS,
AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
The bible called it
mystery. It means we have to interpret
these symbols that were revealed to apostle John. The picture John saw of a woman decked in purple, holding a cup of
abomination, was like a drama. The
symbol was representing something, which will be interpreted in a moment.
V. 6: “And I saw
the woman was drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the
martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I
wondered with great admiration. And the
angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery
of the woman, and the beast that carrieth her, which hath the
seven heads and ten horns.”
From verse 8 goes the
interpretation.
V.8: “The beast
that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit,
and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose
names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world,
when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”
Wait a minute here and
let’s talk about this. Remember when
God gives revelation, God talks in two dimensions. God sees in the spiritual world and also in the physical world.
All these beasts were
representing kingdoms or empires. When
you look at all those empires of the past, consider this: In the spirit world, there is actually a
satanic prince that was ruling those cities and empires. Those spirits empower
the countries or the empires to wage war against their enemies.
When you understand that, know that God
also is dealing with those spirits in the spirit world that were ruling those
empires, and not the physical people only.
When the scripture
says the beast came from the bottomless pit. It’s not a physical person that
comes from the bottomless pit. This
satanic spirit was previously locked up in the bottomless pit, and then allowed
to come out, and he goes to take over the city Babylon.
God is talking both in
the spiritual world as well as in physical world. When the bible mentioned “the dragon”, God is talking about Satan,
and also a city or country can be represented as a dragon. Therefore the prophecies in the bible can
have twofold meaning. However both the
physical world and the spiritual world shall be judged together.
V.9 : Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains upon
which the woman sitteth.
V.10-11: “And there are seven kings: five are
fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must
continue a short space. And the beast that was , and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and
goeth into perdition.”
It said five are
fallen and the seventh is yet to come, and the beast is the eighth.
Let me explain how we
perceive this: As we look at the world
empires, God is referring to the world kingdoms, before we talk about a
particular city, God is talking about the world empires. The bible said there are seven kings,
(verse 10), five are fallen, one is (that is the one currently ruling then), and
the other is not yet come. And when he cometh he must continue a short
space. The beast itself would be the
eighth. Now what does that really
mean?
You can look at it in
several ways. Think of the empires of
the world. Count all the empires that have ruled the world since the beginning
of time. Mesopotamian, Egyptian,
Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Grecian, Roman.
You can count five empires have gone before you come to the Roman
empire, which is the sixth, which was ruling the world during the time this
prophecy was given to apostle John. He
said “one is”, which was the Roman empire that was ruling the world. He said
another one is to come which is the seventh one. He said the eighth one, which is the last one is the beast
himself from the bottomless pit.
Remember he said it is
a spirit from the bottomless pit. It
means all these world empires were ruled by satanic spirits. Men taught they were ruling, but satanic
spirits were ruling through them. This
beast will be the eighth, from the bottomless pit, possessing a man, a ruler of
the world empire. We can only give a
general understanding of what the Lord is inspiring us to see. We can look at history and understand what
has transpired. He said the sixth was
currently ruling but the seventh would come and last short span. When Roman empire disintegrated, a form of European empire took over. What was going on is what we can call a
technological generation. It’s like a
dysfunctional generation. So many countries small and great in a United Nations
Organization. They tend to join together,
and that was prophesied also by Daniel the prophet that at the feet of the
statue of Nebuchadnezzar, which represents the end of the world, iron and clay
are mixed together. Strong and weak
nations are mingled together claiming to rule the world together as in the
United Nations Organization. In those
days, shall the God of heaven set up his Kingdom, which shall destroy all these
kingdoms, and reign for ever. (Dan.2).
He said at the end of the world, at the
feet of that image of Nebuchadnezzar, there are ten toes, and iron and clay mixed together. All these have
transpired and still transpiring. We have the European countries that dominated
the world for many generations in colonizing the nations, all through to the
western civilization of the Americas. He said, there will be a beast that will
come out of the bottomless beast and take over for few years and do all the
last wonders mentioned in the book of revelation chapter 13. He would be the eighth king, but he said he
would be one of the seven. What does
he mean by “he will be one of the seven?”
He said this beast
that came out of the bottomless pit has been.
He said “he was”, and is not.
Which means he is currently locked up in the bottomless pit. It’s a satanic spirit that has ruled on
earth, and then he is locked up in the bottomless pit. At the appointed time he will be released
again and will go forth and take over to rule the world again.
V.11:
And the beast that was and is not, even he is the eighth, and is
of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
He goes into perdition
because after it’s all over, the beast is cast into the lake of fire.
V.12:
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings…
Remember we said the
seven heads are kings – which I interpreted as the world empires. The last is to be the beast, the antichrist
kingdom, which will bring the world into the last world war. Those were the heads. Now he talks about these ten horns
separately as kings also. He said there
are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet. When this book was written, in the days of apostle John, he said
those ten kings had not showed up yet.
In the days of apostle John there was nothing like “British empire”,
French empire, Spain, and so on. He
said they will rise and rule for a while and join to the beast from the
bottomless pit. God was prophesying the
future to apostle John. Now is that future.
The future to apostle John is here now.
The future prophesied in the book of revelation is here in our own
generation. This is why we are
explaining this to you, so that you may know where you stand. Where do you stand with Jesus?
Are you on God’s side or on the side of
this world? We believers are not of
this world. . That is why the bible said, “be ye not conformed to this
world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind”, that you may
be able to prove what is acceptable before God. The future in the days of
apostle John is right here 2000 years later.
Where do you stand with God? He
said, “In the days of those kings, shall the God of heaven set up his
kingdom which shall destroy all these kingdoms, and reign for ever.”
You have to be part of
the kingdom of God by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, and
prepare because he is coming soon.
V.12: “And the ten horns which thou sawest
are ten kings, which have received no kingdoms as yet, but
receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind and shall give their power and strength unto
the beast.”
It means those 10
countries joined the antichrist beast.
(Note: the 10 horns are upon the European beast. You can count 10 major nations in
Europe. Your guess will be as good as
mine).
V.14: “These shall make war with the Lamb
and the lamb shall overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings,
and they that are with him are called and chosen and faithful.”
The Lamb of God is the
Lord Jesus Christ. He is the King of
kings and the Lord of lords. He is the
one that is going to take over the world.
The kingdom of God will not go into physical warfare on earth. He is gathering people of God to be like
prophets unto him. And then he is going to take us away from here.
Afterwards, when the
world is gathered together in Armageddon, the Lord will come down in a flash of
lightening to slay them, and they all will be destroyed that gather together
against Jerusalem.
All those ten kings of
the European community will come against the plan of God, and they are already
doing it through their policies to persecute the Christians. At the end of the world it will occur again
– serious persecution against the true believers.
What was prophesied in
the book of Daniel is being given to us here again with more detail in the book
of revelation, that these kings will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb
will destroy them. Because we that are
with the Lamb of God, we are called, we are chosen and we are faithful.
This is talking about the saints of
God. You can be one of them! The Lord is calling you to come and be one
of the saints of the Most High God.
Come and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Let Him fill your life with the Holy Spirit. And if you have accepted Jesus, begin to
seek more of Him. Desire to be an intercessor in prayers. Pray that the kingdom of God come. Pray that
the plans of the Devil against the believers be none-effect. Intercede for the body of Christ worldwide. Pray that the saints of God will stand for
Christ and not deny Christ in the face of persecution. That is how you are a warrior for the
kingdom. Remember all these. The kingdom of God is coming to take over
the earth, and which side are you at?
Which side are
you? Do you say you belong to Christ
but not different from the world?
Set your affections on
things above and not on things on the earth.
V.15: “And the
waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples and multitudes,
and nations, and tongues…”
It means this is going
to be worldwide. The influence of the whore is worldwide.
V.16: “And the
ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and
shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh and burn her with
fire.”
What is this whore
sitting on the beast? We will see in
the last verse.
V.17: “For God
has put in their heart to fulfill his will and to agree and give their kingdom
unto the beast until the words of God shall be fulfilled.”
They will give the
allegiance of their kingdom to the beast (the Antichrist).
V.18: “And the
woman which thou sawest is that great city which reigneth over the kings of the
earth”.
Now that great city
that reigneth over the kings of the earth in those days, in the days of apostle
John was Roman empire. It was Rome. The
angel was telling apostle John that it was the city Rome that was ruling over
the kings of the earth. You can see that, yes Rome was popular in the days of
apostle John. Up till now Rome is still
popular, because that is where Catholicism has its head. The papacy also ruled Europe religiously,
and politically in earlier generations.
In all the dark ages, the Roman papacy was ruling Europe through
religion, and they were also persecuting true believers. This is what the prophecy was saying. The ten horns will hate the whore and burn
it with fire. It shows that at the end
of the world there is going to be world war at which the city will be
destroyed. They will destroy the city
by themselves. By those ten European
horns.
It was religious,
spiritual and political issue that God is describing in this chapter. The city of Rome made itself a seat of
Religious head expected to be Church religion, yet contrary to the plan of
God. That is why it was called
fornication and the woman was called a whore (spiritual prostitute - sleeping with the kings of the earth).
The Roman religion
introduced statues, which they named after Mary, Peter, Paul, and all the
saints they can think of, and they bow to them, but those are symbols of
idolatry, as God forbid images in the bible.
If you are entangle in
that religious worship, you are better off to come out of her, as the scripture
said. “Thou shalt know the truth
and the truth shall make you free”.
“Come out of her my people that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues”. (Jn.8:32; Rev.18: 4).
I pray that the Lord
will open your understanding that you will not take offence in what you hear or
read here, but if you had been involved in those idolatry, may you repent and
take the word of God very seriously, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
because all these things will take place as written. Amen!
Begin to prepare for
the Lord’s coming. I pray that the Lord
will quicken your hearts to prepare for the Lord’s coming. Amen!

I want to thank those
that have been sending offering to this ministry. Your investment and mine send the literature to believers and
send the word on radio. That is one
sure way we can send our money ahead of us to heaven. The Lord said: "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon
earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and
steal: But lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will
your heart be also." (Mat. 6: 19-21).
"For we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can
carry nothing out." (1Tim. 6: 7).
